8-point MoU signed between Nepal and India

Kathmandu, Aug 24: The Nepali and Indian sides have signed an 8-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation between Nepal and India.
The MoU signing ceremony was held amid a programme held at the Hyderabad House in Indian capital of New Delhi today.
The concerned officials from both both countries signed the MoU following the bilateral talks between the Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s delegation.
PM Deuba is currently in New Delhi in course of his five-day state visit at the cordial invitation of his Indian counterpart.
The Prime Ministers, ministers and a high-level delegation led by both PMs witnessed the MoU signing ceremony.
Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi and Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, India, S. Jaishankar exchanged the MoU signed for utilization of housing grant component to support reconstruction of 50,000 quake-damaged houses as well as implementation of reconstruction package in the health and education sector in Nepal.

Similarly, the two countries have also signed MoU for the implementation of reconstruction package in the cultural heritage sector and arrangement on cost sharing, schedules and safeguard issues for construction of Mechi Bridge.
Likewise, the two countries have agreed on cooperation on drug demand reduction and prevention of illicit trafficking in Narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor chemicals and related matters.
The 8-point MoU also include cooperation in the field of standardization and conformity assessment.
On the occasion, concerned officials from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal signed the MoU regarding the cooperation between the two institutes. RSS
