Fire gut properties worth Rs 1.4 million

Baniyani, Jan 1 : Properties worth Rs 1.4 million was gutted in two separate incidents of fire in Jhapa.  

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mahendra Kumar Shrestha of Jhapa District Police Office informed that the fire engulfed Bal Bahadur Darji’s house at Barhadarshi Rural Municiplaity-5, Satdarshi on Monday, causing a loss amounting to Rs 800,000. Darji’s house caught fire after a short circuit.  

Likewise, property worth Rs 600,000 was gutted when a fire ravaged a hillock of paddy cultivated in eight bighas land at Kachankawal Rural Municiplaity-4, Khuttamuni. Police informed that investigation into both the incidents is underway
