Smooth supply of food grains to remote areas stressed

Kathmandu, Dec 4 (RSS): Nepal Food Corporation (NFC), the government body responsible for the management and supply of food grains, has been urged to make the supply of grains to the food-deficit remote districts and communities in a smooth and effective manner.
Addressing the NFC 43rd anniversary function here on Sunday, Minister for Supplies Jayanta Chand has said that corporation should fulfill the state responsibility through the proper management of food grains to the remote areas.

He also called on the NFC to give justice to the farmers by determining the appropriate price of grains and agriculture produce, stating that the consumers have been suffering from cartels in basic sectors as education, health and food grains supply.
The Supplies Minister underlined the need for the NFC to provide food grains to the needy communities and areas in fair price.
Secretary at the Ministry of Supplies Anil Kumar Thakur stressed on the need of restructuring of the NFC in tune with the changed context.
NFC general manager Kumar Prasad Dahal said the corporation has been providing services for decades to the needy people especially those affected by various disasters like earthquake, flood and fire. He added that the government should have a clear vision about the corporation.
Chairman of the NFC Board of Directors, Prakash Bahadur KC said the corporation was committed to work to achieve its goals and mission.
